About
Deborah Drattell is an American opera composer and belt designer. She expresses her artistic vision by infusing each accessory with the same elegance, drama, and boldness of design that is incorporated into her operas.
Ms. Drattell has been the composer-in-residence at Lincoln Center’s New York City Opera, the Glimmerglass Opera Company, and the New Orleans and Denver Symphonies. Her compositions have been premiered by such prestigious companies as the Los Angeles Opera, the New York Philharmonic, and WNET Great Performances (Emmy nomination.)
Reaching for the heights in all of her endeavors, Deborah’s creations have been featured at Henri Bendel, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and other luxury stores. Each piece she fabricates is sculpted to slim and approached as a multi-layered work of art. Deborah began designing belts, and fusing these two creative art forms, when her oldest daughter became engaged.
As the mother of 3 daughters (and 1 son!) she became obsessed with finding the perfect belt for each of their gowns. After too many hours of shopping and searching, the creative juices kicked in and she decided to design her own unique pieces. Voila, her daughters looked sensational, especially the young bride, and a business was born!
Each style Ms. Drattell designs is fabricated from the finest luxury materials and is handmade in New York City. Multi-textured by combining lambskin, suede, calf-hair, stretch, crystals or silk, they are conceived to wear from day to evening, with your favorite jeans or designer gown. Deborah’s belts inspire one’s own operatic story.
