The Composer: Deborah Drattell
Deborah Drattell is an American opera/symphonic composer and belt designer. She expresses her artistic vision by infusing each accessory with the same elegance, drama, and boldness of design that is incorporated into her compositions. Her FANFARE 2026 for orchestra, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, will premiere on July 4, commissioned by the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra, Russell Ger, conductor.
Ms. Drattell has been the composer-in-residence at Lincoln Center’s New York City Opera, the Glimmerglass Opera Company, and the New Orleans and Denver Symphonies. Her compositions have been premiered by such prestigious companies as the Los Angeles Opera, the New York Philharmonic, and WNET Great Performances (Emmy nomination.)
